Another noteworthy event for Verroia is about the army base of General Kolokotronis even though it just existed for a short period of time. On September of 1825, he made Verroia his headquarters next to the St. John (Prodromos) under the shade of the huge walnut tree, where together with the other Generals they made most of their plans on how to defeat the Turks who had arrived in Laconia under the orders of their General, Ibraem.
